Daily Writing Activity (DWA) Prompts

This entry will list DWA prompts as I assign them.

DWA #15:  Write at least 250 different words of actual text that you plan to incorporate into your brochure.  Please email this DWA to me so that I can mark it electronically as I do your formal assignments.

DWA #14:  Write at least 250 words of actual text that you plan to incorporate into your brochure.  Please email this DWA to me so that I can mark it electronically as I do your formal assignments.

DWA #13:  Write at least 250 words describing the topic and audience for your brochure as it exists at this time.

DWA #12:  Write at least three hundred words describing your project.  Feel free to go over as much as you want because the more you write, the better off you are in the long run.

DWA #11:  Go to the Pepsi Refresh Project and review several of the proposals posted there in any category.  Write at least 250 words describing which projects you think are the most effective and/or ineffective and why.  We'll be going over this in class, so be ready to discuss what you've written.

DWA #9/10:  Write at least five hundred words about the larger ideas or frameworks that Shevory uses that you think are most and/or least useful in reminding us of the larger social, political, and cultural issues surrounding particular media stories that involve gender, race, and sexuality.

DWA #8:  Write at least three hundred words responding to any or all of the four assigned articles.  Just detail places that you agree and disagree with, places that surprise or challenge you, and/or places that taught you something.

DWA #7:  Write at least three hundred words answering any or all of the following questions.  Is a book like OBOS needed today?  Would a website be better?  What are the advantages or disadvantages of each?

DWA #6:  Write at least three hundred words describing how the sections assigned to you are both typical and not typical for what you expect to find in a "women's health book." Focus on specifics and be ready to discuss what you find in class.

DWA #5:  This will be held in class.  You should have an electronic copy of DWA #4 with you so that you can prepare a copy that will be posted anonymously on one or both RPW bulletin boards.  You will want to email it to yourself and/or bring it on a flash drive.  Please save it in more than one format to make sure that you can open it on the computers in the lab (the version of Word on these may not be able to open .docx files).

DWA #4:  Revise the vagina monologue that you wrote for DWA #3 keeping in mind that you will read it to the class.  It should be no more than one double-spaced page.

DWA #3:  Write your own vagina monologue in your own voice.  It should be no more than one-page, double-spaced.  Write this before you read the articles for class.  You will have a chance to revise this for DWA #4, but for DWA #3, I want to see what you produce without as little guidance as possible other than reading VM itself.  No one will see this but me unless you choose to talk about it in class.  I'm more interested in the process of writing than what you write about.

DWA #2:  Type at least 250 words comparing The Vagina Monologues and for colored girls....  What do you see as the major similiarities and/or differences between the two?

DWA #1. Type at least 250 words detailing a specific scene or woman in for colored girls... that stands out to you. Be specific about why. It may be because it appeals to you in some way or confuses you. Just be specific about your reasons.
